SUCCESS = INDEPENDENCE OF MIND!
As I kept thinking on this, I got my answer, "Success is directly proportional to the indepenece state of mind". Just look into any successful individual around you! May it be writer, painter, actor, social activist, naturalist, scientists, economists, innovators and enterprenuers. All of these successful individuals are successful because they have mind of their own. Just look into this years Padma awardees. Sachin Tendulkar is successful because he has passion and dedication for his occupation - cricket. R. K. Pachuri received Nobel on behalf of IPCC as its Chair, becuse he led IPCC to new heights, becuase he has passion for what he is doing, because he has belief in it. All this because all these great individuals have achieved and attained "independence of mind".
Independecne of mind is a state where you begin to think on your own. You make your own judgement. You are not influenced by other schools of thoughts. It is a state of mind where you begin to appreciate what is right and what is wrong. It is state of mind where you believe in what you think, where you take all risk and are aware of pros and cons of consequences of your thinking and publicaly sharing it. Once you achieve such a state of mind, you would generate passion and dedication about what you believe is correct and good. Once you have this no matter what obstacles come your way, you get strength to overcom it. When this happens success always keep touching your feet and always smile with you. What is essential though is to attain the state of independence of mind. So dare yourself and be independent not physically, and economically but also psychologically. Because,

SUCCESS = TEAMING UP TOGETHER!
Every one played well, but two things that struck me and rather impressed me was (a) the spirit of sportsmanship with which Indian's played, and (b) amazing display of teaming up that they demonstrated. Every one played according to game plan, they perform their character as directed, and did this in style. Such synchronization of acts, and coordination can never happen, if there is no team spirit and togetherness amongst each and every one of the team and its management. I was moved with this display of team spirit!
But then another thought that crossed my mind, it was not only Team India was a winner, but every team member was a winner. They individually won because team won. However, many of us who wish, aspire and dream easily forget this very important fact. You can be successful only if your team is successful. For this to happen you have to be 110% team player and not individual skill master. Even if those who are known for their individual success par excellence has team behind them. If Sania, Mahesh, Peas, and Vishwanathan won their matches, it is not only they alone who deserve the applaud - it is their family, trainer, coach and managers who also have contributed significantly. So this very thought that I don't need others, I can do it all alone, I have that ability to be solo performer, it self is suicidal one. Not only suicidal it is clear demonstration of one's arrogance and selfishness. In fact, such a thought is first step of your life long defeat. Thus, one needs to be a team player, because together if team wins, you would win. Thus, teaming together in what so ever you do, in which ever profession you are, and even within your family is important.
Whenever, I reflect back on my own achievements, I am always thankful to all those who contributed directly and indirectly. If they would not have contributed and scarificed, there was no reason that a human being of my character could achieve the success, that I have achieved so far. My parents, society, friends, teachers, colleagues, my wife Pradnya and even my daughter Maitri has contributed significantly to my success. If they, would not have team up with me, there was no chance for me to achieve what I have achieved. Thus,
SUCCESS = TEAMING UP TOGETHER!

SUCCESS = BE A DONOR!
Yes! if you have attitude to donate, and share you would not have to make extra efforts to be rich, wealthier and successful. The richness that I am referring to is not only in terms of money, but the richness of deeds, qualities, smartness that led an individual to success. Many saints were poor financially, but were religiously rich. Similarly, intellectuals are rich with their intelligence. Sportsman are rich with stamina, skills and endurance. However, none of them can be successful unless they don't donate their endurance, skills, stamina, intelligence and knowledge. It is only when they start sharing, donating as well benefiting society or humanity with their richness, that we start recognizing them as SUCCESSFUL individuals.
On the contrary there are many intellectuals, who keep their knowledge to themselves. Their are many artists who never dare to entertain people with their performance. There are many painters, who never come forward to paint the portrait. All such individuals are never recognized as successful ones. Reason is simple, they don't donate what they have. What so ever wealth in the broader sense that you have, you need to share and donate. If you share and donate you will receive rewards multiple times, than what you have donated and shared. For example, when a rich person donate "x" amount of money, he earns multiple times of "x". Thus, irrespective of how little, and how more wealth of money, property, friendship, goodwill, intelligence, skills you have, always continue to donate some of it, and you will be richer multiple times. Thus,
SUCCESS = BE A DONOR!

SUCCESS = PRIORITIZING ACTIONS!
On the eve of new year 2008 we were with Date's at their residence in Talegaon. By the time Pradnya, Maitri and I came back home it was 1.30 a.m. of 1st January 2008. Preventive health care being my priority for 2008, I had planned checkup at polyclinic as part of LIC policy on 1st morning. At 7.30 a.m. I was on my way to this polyclinic Congress Bhavan. I passed through Mangala theaters, I saw big crowd of nearly 100 students, both boys and girls at the gate of Mangala theaters waiting for it to open.
I just halted for a moment and asked one of them, why are they crowding in such a number on 1st day of the new year. He promptly responded that,"they are here to watch the morning show of one of the block buster movie". I was shocked and senseless on hearing this. What is important, going to morning show by bunking lectures and that too on very first calendar day of the year, or planning and investing in future?
It is none of my business to advice someone as to when one should do what? However, if I would be in place of these students, I would not have gone for morning show, and certainly not on the 1st day of the year? I would certainly prioritize my actions, as well investment of time, money and energy. I would do this because success is not all about dreaming, and planning, but it is much about taking actions, and taking right actions as right time, which means prioritizing. One must clearly know which actions one should take as they begin their day and end their day. As a student I had watched movies, I had watched morning shows, but certainly not on 1st day of the year, and not on days when I had some important actions to take in order to shape my life, and be successful in my career.

SUCCESS = ADAPTING TO CHANGES!
I thought for a moment as to what was a need for the officer to greet and thank me in Hindi? Answer was simple adapting to changes! With India’s economy on rise, many Indian’s are travelling often to Europe and America. Jet Airways designating Brussels as its European hub is an indicator of that significant rise of Indian tourist overseas. If overseas nations, has to continue to attract these Indian travelers often, then it is necessary to be friendly to them, or to create an environment where in Indian travelers continue to choose Brussels as their transit point for travel in and out Europe. What a smart decision on behalf of Belgian authorities to instruct its passport control officers to greet and thank in Hindi? This small gesture would certainly go long way. I thus realized another sutra of success, “Adapting to Changes”. Only those who could adapt to changing scenarios would continue to exist and prosper. Success is also directly proportional to rate of such adaptation to newer situations and scenario’s. Thus,
SUCCESS = ADAPTING TO CHANGES!

SUCCESS = SKETCH YOURSELF!
Welcome 2008! Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year 2008!
My daughter often surprises me with her spontaneous answers. For past few months, she often told us that she is unhappy with us as we have not invited her for our marriage. Typical of kids! However, last week was different. Pradnya, me and Maitri were passing by the Don Bosco Highschool, in Yeradwada area of Pune where Pradnya and I tied knots for life on 7th June 1996. As we were passing by the venue, I told Maitri that Pradnya and I got married here. Maitri spontaneously responded that she could not attend it, as she was with GOD sketching her life. Pradnya and I were totally taken for great surprise with this answer, and we felt extremely proud of our daughter. This incident ignited my thought process, with a question – how many of us sketch our lives?
Success is not a chance it is planned event. If it is so, then one can not achieve it with mere luck or blessings. But it could be achieved only with proper blue print and stricter implementation in timely manner. However, the question is how many of us feel it is necessary to draw such a blue print of our success? How many of us even attempt to sketch the life and its most important milestones? Since, we don’t we miss the success, and then we blame it to our luck. Success is a process, and planning is integral part of this process. This not only involves dreaming, but also sketching it on paper and then implementing it with definite time plan.
I have personally experienced on more than one occasion that when ever I have dreamed with strong conviction and belief about specific milestone of success, and then put it into words, and action plan, I was better able to implement it and thus I achieved all such milestones and challenges. I would not have achieved them, if I would not have sketched them. So as we usher in to new year, sketch even the minor milestones of your success. By the way, no milestone or achievement is minor, as each of such challenges when overcome, lead you closer to the grand success. Thus,
SUCCESS = SKETCH IT YOURSELF!
